The Election Commission of Sindh has announced the schedule for by-elections on 45 vacant seats of local bodies across 16 districts, with the electoral process to be completed in phases.
According to the spokesperson, the by-elections will be held in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro, Matiari, Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, Sanghar, Ghotki, Khairpur, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Shikarpur.
As per the schedule, returning officers will issue public notices on April 2, while nomination papers can be submitted from April 6 to April 8.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from April 13 to April 15, and the preliminary list of candidates will be released on April 16.
Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nomination papers until April 30, while the final list of candidates will be published and election symbols allotted on May 4.
Polling for the 45 vacant seats will be conducted on May 17 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM without any break.
