Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity prices for the second time in a week, raising the tariff by Rs0.52 per unit under a quarterly adjustment.
Following approval from the federal government, NEPRA issued a notification for the latest increase in electricity prices.
According to the notification, electricity has been made Rs0.52 per unit more expensive under the second quarterly adjustment of the current year.
The increase will place an additional burden of Rs12.67 billion on electricity consumers across the country.
NEPRA said the additional amount will be collected through electricity bills for September, October and November.
Consumers will be charged an additional Rs0.52 per unit each month for three months, with the increase applying nationwide, including to K-Electric customers.
This is the second increase in electricity prices within a week.
On September 4, NEPRA had announced an increase of Rs2.06 per unit under the monthly adjustment mechanism.
