Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to protecting the kingdom’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
The prime minister expressed serious concern over attacks targeting airports in Riyadh and Abha and offered condolences over the loss of civilian lives and injuries.
Shehbaz praised the professionalism and vigilance of Saudi and allied forces, saying they had intercepted and destroyed several ballistic missiles in the air.
He said Pakistan stood in complete solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people and reaffirmed its commitment under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement to safeguarding Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The prime minister said Pakistan fully supported Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its people, cities and critical infrastructure.
Calling on the Houthi militia to immediately halt attacks on Saudi Arabia, Shehbaz said Pakistan would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the kingdom against every threat.
Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority had confirmed attacks on King Khalid International Airport and Abha International Airport, saying three people were killed and 36 others injured.
