In the southeastern regions of Brazil, heavy rainfall and storms have caused widespread devastation, resulting in at least 25 fatalities in various incidents.
Thousands of people were left homeless due to rain and floods in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, 10 people died in Rio de Janeiro while 17 people died in Espirito Santo and many people are still missing.
According to Brazilian rescue officials, the situation in Rio de Janeiro and Espirito Santo is critical and rescue teams are engaged in 24-hour volunteer operations.
