Karachi, August 3, 2024 – The Bazm-e-Shoraa-e-Bar Karachi successfully hosted its second annual “Mehfil-e-Musalama” on July 31, 2024, at the Jinnah Auditorium of Karachi Bar Association in District Courts, Karachi.
The event, held under the leadership of Mr. Shoukat Kamal Cheema, the founder and chairman of Bazm-e-Shoraa-e-Bar Karachi, was a profound tribute to Hazrat Imaam Hussain, honoring his sacrifice for Islam through the power of poetry. The event was coordinated by Mr. Yasir Chughtai, the General Secretary of Bazm-e-Shoraa-e-Bar Karachi.
Renowned literary figure, poet, writer, and researcher, Syed Firasat Rizvi, presided over the program, adding prestige and depth to the event. Esteemed chief guests Mr. Ronaq Hayat, Mr. Fayyaz Ali Fayyaz, Mr. Khalid Moin and Dr. Ambareen Haseeb Amber graced the occasion with their presence, each contributing to the event’s significance with their unique poetry.
In his welcome address, Mr. Shoukat Kamal Cheema expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Firasat Rizvi and the chief guests for accepting the invitation and gracing the event. He shed light on the journey of Bazm-e-Shoraa-e-Bar Karachi and highlighted the successful events organized by the Bazm over the years. Mr. Cheema emphasized the importance of Mehfil-e-Musalama in paying tribute to Hazrat Imaam Hussain, whose sacrifice continues to inspire and uphold Islamic values.
Distinguished poets from Karachi, including Mr. Saleem Fauz, Mr. Yasir Saeed Siddiqui, Mr. Tanveer Sukhan, Sahebzada Atiq Ur Rehman, Mr. Nadeem Naqvi and poets from lawyers’ community including advocate Shoukat Kamal Cheema, Advocate Yasir Chughtai, Advocate Shuja Abbas Rizvi, Advocate Kamran Hashmi, Advocate Shahzad Niaz, Advocate Saddam Hussain Soomro, Advocate Shakira Tariq and Nawab Mohsin along with the chief guests and the president of the Mehfil-e-Musalama, paid homage to Hazrat Imaam Hussain through their evocative poetry. The audience was deeply moved by the poignant recitations that highlighted the virtues and sacrifice of Imaam Hussain.
In his presidential speech, Syed Firasat Rizvi underscored the crucial role of the lawyer’s community in upholding the rule of law. Drawing parallels to the sacrifice of Imaam Hussain, he emphasized the legal fraternity’s responsibility to support the oppressed segments of society. He highlighted the exemplary role of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose relentless struggle led to the formation of an independent Pakistan. Mr. Rizvi expressed his gratitude to the management of Bazm-e-Shoraa-e-Bar Karachi for organizing such a meaningful event.
The Mehfil-e-Musalama concluded with a renewed commitment to preserving and promoting the literary and cultural heritage of Islam, and a note of appreciation for all contributors and attendees who made the event a resounding success.
