Will Young scored 5, Devon Conway made 48, Kane Williamson contributed 34, while Daryl Mitchell was dismissed after scoring 57 runs. From Pakistan’s side, Naseem Shah took two wickets.
According to details, while chasing Pakistan’s target of 243 runs, New Zealand lost their first wicket at 30 runs when Will Young was dismissed for 5 runs on Naseem Shah’s delivery. The second wicket fell at 76 runs when Kane Williamson was out for 34, dismissed by Agha Salman. By the 39th over, New Zealand had lost four wickets at 195 runs, with Daryl Mitchell getting out for 57 on Abrar Ahmed’s ball.
The final match of the Tri-Nation ODI series was played today at Karachi’s National Stadium, where Pakistan, batting first, was bowled out for 242 runs, setting a target of 243 for New Zealand.
Pakistan had a shaky start as wickets fell in quick succession. By 142 runs, three wickets had fallen, with Fakhar Zaman scoring 10 and Saud Shakeel 8 before heading back to the pavilion. Additionally, Babar Azam was dismissed for 29, while captain Mohammad Rizwan managed 46 runs before getting out. Agha Salman contributed 45 runs, Tayyab Tahir made 38, and Faheem Ashraf scored 22 off 21 balls.
Mitchell Santner bowled 10 overs, conceding 20 runs and taking two wickets, while Michael Bracewell claimed two wickets, giving away 38 runs in his 10-over spell.
At the toss, Mohammad Rizwan stated that the pitch looked favorable for batting, which is why Pakistan opted to bat first. He expressed confidence in securing the trophy.
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner noted that the pitch had less grass and expected a high-scoring game. He remarked that the wicket appeared generally good and that his team would focus on bowling well.
Santner also confirmed two changes in the New Zealand squad, with Jacob Duffy and Nathan Smith replacing Matt Henry and Ben Sears.
Pakistan made one change in their playing XI, bringing in Faheem Ashraf in place of Mohammad Hasnain.
