Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed relevant authorities to prepare the upcoming fiscal year’s budget with a focus on public interest and to immediately release funds for development schemes nearing completion.
The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, which included officials from the Finance and Planning & Development departments to review matters related to the upcoming budget.
Murad Ali Shah emphasized that efforts should be made to finalize most of the schemes and budget proposals before Eid.
On the occasion, Provincial Minister Nasir Hussain Shah informed that out of 4,644 ongoing schemes this year, 1,812 will be completed. He also noted that various departments have proposed several new locally-based schemes for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Chief Minister stated that a separate meeting would be held to review available funds and finalize the new schemes.
It is worth mentioning that in the 2023–24 fiscal year, the Sindh government had initiated 1,937 new schemes worth Rs. 88.3 billion, most of which are now close to completion.
He further added that revenue figures for the province will also be clarified by the first week of June.
