The Meteorological Department has forecast that a new spell of rainfall is expected to begin across the country this evening, driven by the onset of monsoon winds. This will be the first spell of the monsoon season, starting from the evening of June 24 and likely to continue until July 2.
According to the details, monsoon winds will enter various regions of the country from June 25, bringing light to moderate rainfall, with a chance of heavy showers in some areas. The department has warned that heavy rain in certain regions could disrupt daily life and affect local infrastructure.
In Punjab, cities including Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Sheikhupura are expected to receive rainfall from June 25 to June 29. Similarly, the federal capital Islamabad, along with Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum, may experience thundershowers between June 26 and June 28.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, and Bajaur are likely to receive rain from June 25 to June 29, while heavy rainfall is expected in areas like Dir, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, and Kohistan.
In Balochistan, rain is forecasted in Zhob, Barkhan, Quetta, Mastung, and Ziarat. Additionally, rainfall is also expected in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan between June 25 and June 28.
The Met Office has issued a warning for possible landslides in hilly areas from June 26 to 28, and there is also a risk of water accumulation or flash flooding in low-lying areas. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures.
