Indian captain Shubman Gill delivered a phenomenal performance in the Edgbaston Test against England, scoring 269 and 161 in two innings, a total of 430 runs, breaking major records previously held by legends Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Sunil Gavaskar.
Gill became the first Indian batsman to score both a double century and 150-plus in two innings of a Test match. He is now only the second player in the world to score more than 400 runs in a single Test match, just behind England’s Graham Gooch, who scored 456 runs in 1990.
On social media, hashtags like #ShubmanGill and #DilDilGill are trending. Wasim Jaffer praised Gill’s incredible hunger for runs, while Virat Kohli called him “the star boy writing history.”
India, for the first time in a Test match, surpassed 1,000 total runs and has now set England a daunting target of 608 runs. In response, England has already lost 3 wickets for just 72 runs.
This is not just another Test match; it marks the beginning of a new era in Indian cricket, and its name is Shubman Gill.
