The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre, and the Department of Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control (Narcotics Control Wing, Sindh) successfully concluded a significant joint maritime and intelligence-based operation in the Arabian Sea.
During coordinated patrolling and surveillance, a suspicious non-state vessel was intercepted and thoroughly searched. The search led to the recovery of over 500 kilograms of hashish and crystal methamphetamine (ice). In another phase of the operation, illegal liquor, secretly stashed for smuggling, was also confiscated based on intelligence inputs.
Authorities credit the success of this operation to effective intelligence sharing, swift coordination, and inter-agency collaboration. The total value of the seized narcotics is estimated to exceed Rs1 billion, delivering a major blow to drug smuggling networks operating in the region.
All recovered items have been handed over to the Department of Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control (Sindh) for further legal proceedings and investigation.
This successful operation stands as a practical demonstration of the coordination among Pakistan’s maritime and law enforcement agencies, reaffirming their commitment to combat drug trafficking and safeguard national maritime boundaries and regional security.
