Former Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram has revealed that the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack were Indian nationals who received terrorist training within India.
According to Indian media, Chidambaram dealt a severe blow to the Modi government by stating that the attackers in the Pahalgam area of occupied Kashmir were Indians, trained in terrorism domestically. He questioned the assumption that they came from Pakistan when there is no evidence to support such a claim.
He further said, “They are not even willing to disclose what the NIA has done so far. Have they identified the terrorists? Do they know where they came from? I mean, they may be from within the country. They could be local terrorists as well.”
It is worth noting that in April, dozens of people were killed in an attack by unknown assailants in Pahalgam, Kashmir. India blamed Pakistan for the incident but failed to provide any evidence.
On the night of May 6 and 7, India launched an attack on Pakistan, carrying out airstrikes in cities including Bahawalpur. In a swift response, the Pakistan Air Force shot down six Indian jets, including Rafale fighters.
India also launched drone strikes in several cities, including Lahore. In retaliation, Pakistan’s military downed hundreds of Indian drones. On May 10, Pakistan responded to the unprovoked Indian aggression by targeting multiple airbases, military installations, and ammunition depots with missile strikes.
Following Pakistan’s robust counterattack, the Modi government contacted the United States and requested a ceasefire. Upon intervention by Donald Trump, Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire.
