The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has strongly rejected the allegations made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the involvement of Pakistani nationals in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, calling the claims baseless.
According to details, Pakistan has dismissed reports suggesting its citizens are participating in the Russia-Ukraine war and has decided to seek clarification from Ukrainian authorities. Zelensky had alleged that Pakistani fighters were among the mercenaries fighting for Russia in northeastern Ukraine.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said the accusations of Pakistani involvement in the war lack credible evidence and no formal communication has been received from Ukrainian authorities. Pakistan will officially raise the matter and demand clarification from Ukraine.
The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan supports a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, based on the principles of the United Nations Charter. The allegations from Ukraine have been described as unjustified and baseless.
Furthermore, the Ministry clarified that Pakistan maintains a strict policy against any illegal involvement of its citizens in foreign conflicts. Ukraine should avoid making baseless accusations and instead focus on verifiable facts.
It should be noted that President Zelensky had previously posted on X (formerly Twitter) that commanders on the frontlines reported the presence of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and some African nations. He stated that Ukraine would respond to this accordingly.
