The Pakistan Cricket Board has begun consultations over the squad selection for the upcoming T20 and ODI series against South Africa. Selectors, the head coach, and the team captain have initiated discussions following the team’s performance in the Asia Cup.
According to sources, three to four changes are expected in the T20 squad, while the white-ball line-up is likely to remain largely unchanged. The management has reviewed the team’s recent performances and is considering possible adjustments to strengthen the side.
Reports suggest that T20 captain Salman Ali Agha is under review as he has failed to meet expectations both as a batter and a leader. Discussions are also underway regarding the potential return of senior players and the inclusion of a few new faces in the team.
Meanwhile, a few selection committee members have expressed reservations about Babar Azam’s return to the T20 squad, though no final decision has been made yet.
Minor changes are also expected in the ODI squad, with the final announcement likely to be made in the coming committee meeting.
Pakistan and South Africa are scheduled to play three T20Is and three ODIs, with the first T20 match set for October 28.
