Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has offered full cooperation to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for improving governance in the province, emphasizing the need for joint efforts by the government and opposition in the public interest.
Speaking to the media, the governor said that the joy within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf over Ali Amin Gandapur’s departure is greater than in the opposition. He added that soon PTI itself will celebrate a “Day of Deliverance.”
Kundi claimed that Gandapur wanted to create tensions with the federal government. “He used to make big statements outside but was aligned with the government inside. The current government will soon realize the mistakes made by Ali Amin,” he said.
The governor noted that the new chief minister is being briefed and that the situation will become clear in the coming days. He assured that wherever the chief minister needs support from the governor’s house or the opposition, a positive response will be given.
Kundi welcomed the CM’s decision to form a jirga for maintaining peace in the province, calling it a positive step. He urged Sohail Afridi to first take Parliament into confidence, form a parliamentary jirga, visit every district, and include the opposition and all political parties in the process to strengthen peace and governance.
