ISLAMABAD: Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal announced the establishment of Pakistan’s first breast cancer screening center at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), offering free screening facilities to women. He announced this while addressing a ceremony held to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Week.
The health minister emphasized the importance of early diagnosis in fighting breast cancer. “We don’t want people to get sick first and then come to hospitals. This center will help women detect the disease before it develops,” he said.
He highlighted that breast cancer can only be effectively fought through awareness and early action, not just treatment. “We must protect our mothers, sisters, and daughters from this deadly disease,” he added.
Addressing the medical staff, the minister said, “Those who serve suffering humanity are greatly rewarded by Allah.” He also announced plans to establish breast cancer screening centers at the district level to expand access to healthcare services.
Mustafa Kamal urged women and girls to undergo tests before symptoms appear, as early detection can save countless lives. The newly established facility is expected to play a key role in the early diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer across the country.
