The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has reissued arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, sister of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, after her repeated absence from hearings in the November 26 protest case.
According to court records, Aleema Khan’s national identity card and passport have been digitally blocked, while the guarantor who secured her vehicle’s custody has been sent to jail.
Despite the execution of her arrest warrants, Aleema Khan failed to appear before ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah’s court, prompting the judge to issue fresh non-bailable arrest warrants.
During the hearing, the prosecution submitted reports confirming the blocking of Aleema Khan’s CNIC and passport, but no report was presented regarding the freezing of her bank accounts. The court has now directed the State Bank officials to submit a detailed report on the matter.
The court also ordered police to locate and seize the movable assets of Aleema Khan and four guarantors who had obtained custody of her vehicles.
One guarantor, Arif Khan, appeared in court and claimed he neither possessed funds nor owned any property. The court found his statement unsatisfactory and ordered his arrest and imprisonment.
Although prosecution witnesses were present, their testimonies could not be recorded due to the absence of the accused and their defense counsel. The court adjourned further proceedings until November 3.
