PTI founder Imran Khan has dissolved the party’s 40-member political committee and instructed that a new, smaller committee be formed in its place. This decision signals his intention to streamline the party’s organizational structure, making it more efficient and capable of faster decision-making on core political matters.
According to reports, Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed the development and stated that the new committee will include provincial presidents, opposition leaders, and several other key figures. He explained that the structure of the new committee is being designed to ensure representation from top leadership levels, maintaining coordination between provincial units and the parliamentary opposition.
Sheikh Waqas Akram further clarified that the committee is expected to comprise members who are actively engaged in party affairs, possess a strong understanding of the current political landscape, and can play a direct role in shaping key decisions.
Imran Khan also directed that Shahid Khattak be appointed as the parliamentary leader in the National Assembly. However, indications suggest that the party may not implement this decision immediately, similar to the earlier nomination of Zartaj Gul, which did not materialize despite being announced.
Additionally, Imran Khan has authorised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohael Afridi to reorganise the Insaf Lawyers Forum, aiming to strengthen the party’s legal and organisational framework within the province and enhance its effectiveness.
