Details have emerged regarding the taxes paid by Pakistani citizens on petroleum products.
According to sources in the Petroleum Division, up to 37 percent tax is included in the per-litre price of petrol, amounting to Rs 96.28 in taxes on every litre of petrol.
Sources added that diesel prices also carry significant taxation, with around 34 percent of the price comprising various taxes. A total of Rs 94.92 per litre is collected as tax on diesel.
According to the Petroleum Division, these taxes on petrol and diesel fall under customs duty, petroleum levy, and climate levy categories.
