Pakistan has strongly condemned the deadly shooting incident in the Australian city of Sydney and expressed deep sympathy and condolences for the victims and their families.
President Asif Ali Zardari, reacting to the incident, said that Pakistan has itself suffered extensively from terrorism and therefore fully understands the pain, trauma, and losses caused by such attacks. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance against terrorism in all its forms and expressed complete solidarity with the Australian government and people during this difficult time.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the shooting, stating that Pakistan unequivocally opposes all forms of terrorist violence. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and injured and emphasized that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with the Australian people in their hour of grief.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also expressed sorrow over the incident. Interior Minister Naqvi said that terrorism is an unforgivable crime against humanity, adding that Pakistan, having faced similar challenges, deeply understands the suffering and pain of the Australian public.
It is worth noting that two armed attackers opened fire on civilians at Bondi Beach in Sydney, resulting in the deaths of 16 people and injuries to 40 others. During the police response, one attacker was killed while the second was taken into custody in an injured condition. The incident has plunged Australia into mourning.
