Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that he is fully prepared to engage in dialogue with the establishment on provincial matters and to work towards improving relations in the interest of the public.
Speaking to journalists in Peshawar, Sohail Afridi stated that the PTI founder had not given him any instructions regarding talks with the establishment, adding that Imran Khan had assigned the task of dialogue to Mahmood Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas.
The chief minister said that he is willing to hold discussions with the establishment on provincial issues and believes that the government, the establishment, and all stakeholders should formulate policies in line with public interests.
He added that if any ceremony or meeting takes place, he would certainly meet Field Marshal Asim Munir to discuss matters related to the province.
Sohail Afridi further stated that the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law must prevail in the country and that talks regarding Imran Khan’s release can only move forward when conditions and the overall environment are favorable.
He said that the PTI founder’s sisters have a legitimate right to come out and campaign, as they are striving for their brother’s release, and that their visit to Karachi is aimed at mobilizing public support for this cause.
The chief minister also acknowledged that inappropriate language was used by him during his visit to Lahore, but clarified that it was a reaction to circumstances and confirmed that he has already apologized for the incident.
