Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has stated that the government will compensate for the financial losses caused by the fire at Gul Plaza, adding that efforts are underway to provide all possible relief to the affected people.
Speaking to the media, the chief minister said that the priority at this stage is to save human lives, and every effort is being made to ensure that those reported missing are found as soon as possible, to ease the suffering of affected families.
Murad Ali Shah said that permission for the construction of a multi-storey building was granted without any proper study, and whenever the issue of fire audits is raised, builders often claim that they are being treated unfairly, which reflects a serious and concerning attitude.
The chief minister stated that the losses suffered by traders will be compensated; however, the loss of human lives can never truly be made good, as there is no replacement for a life lost.
He further said that it is deeply unfortunate that some people are indulging in politics even over such a tragic incident. He clarified that the first fire tender had reached the site on time, and if negligence is established at any level, those responsible will be punished in accordance with the law.
