Security sources have reacted to the opposition leader’s recent remarks regarding the Pakistan Army, describing the statement as regrettable, baseless, and factually incorrect. According to the sources, the military has no involvement in political affairs and does not interfere in political matters.
The sources stated that the war against terrorism is not solely the responsibility of the security forces, the army, police, or Frontier Corps, but rather a collective national effort. They emphasized that lasting success against terrorism is contingent upon the full and effective implementation of the National Action Plan, which remains the key framework for ensuring long-term peace and stability.
Referring to the recent Islamabad attack, security sources claimed that the terrorist involved had received training in Afghanistan. They stressed that regardless of political or religious differences, unity is essential in confronting terrorism, as it is a national challenge that requires collective resolve.
The sources further noted that three years ago, between 15 to 20 million liters of Iranian petrol and diesel were being smuggled daily, but this illegal trade has now been curtailed. They stated that proceeds from such smuggling activities were used to finance terrorist operations, adding that good governance remains the only sustainable solution to eliminating terrorism at its roots.
Regarding the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the sources said that the National Action Plan is also the key to controlling terrorism in the province, and recent meetings held there are a positive development. They reiterated that dialogue among political parties is their constitutional right, but the army has no role in politics, and all legal and court-related matters must be decided by the judiciary in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
Speaking to media representatives in Lahore, a senior security official urged the nation not to be divided along ethnic, linguistic, or provincial lines and to remain united against all forms of subversion. He said that “Fitna al-Hindustan” is an enemy of the Baloch people and the development of Balochistan, and that those who carry out terrorism under the guise of deprivation slogans have been recognized by the public.
The senior official further claimed that India is behind sponsored terrorism inside Pakistan and that strict action against both external and internal conspiratorial elements is unavoidable. He asserted that no narrative can weaken the bond between the army and the people, stating that the only narrative is Pakistan. He added that visits to educational institutions demonstrate that the younger generation stands firmly with the armed forces.
He concluded by saying that just as India was defeated in the “Battle of Truth,” terrorists will also be defeated with the same determination.
