Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that due to timely government decisions, sufficient petroleum products are available in the country to meet national requirements.
During a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, a detailed review was conducted of measures taken for fuel conservation and austerity in light of the prevailing regional situation.
The meeting, held via video link, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Atta Tarar, Musadik Malik, Ahad Cheema, Shaza Fatima, Owais Leghari, as well as State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmad and other senior officials.
The Prime Minister said that public relief has remained a top priority under the current circumstances, and every possible effort has been made over the past three weeks to provide relief to citizens. He added that the federal government has absorbed a financial burden of Rs125 billion to prevent an increase in oil prices, which was managed through savings and cuts in the development budget.
He urged the public to support the government’s conservation campaign by avoiding unnecessary travel and prioritizing teleconferencing in offices to reduce fuel consumption.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also directed provincial governments to facilitate motorcycle and rickshaw owners in registering their vehicles, which will help digitize nationwide data and enable them to benefit from government relief measures.
He further instructed relevant authorities to strengthen coordination with chief secretaries of all provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure effective implementation of these measures.
