A new global study has warned that metabolic liver disease could become one of the fastest-growing health conditions in the coming decades, with projections indicating that the number of affected individuals may reach nearly 2 billion by the year 2050, posing a serious global health challenge.
The research highlights that currently around 1.3 billion people worldwide are already affected by the disease, representing a significant portion of the global population, and experts suggest that if current trends continue, the number could rise to one in every five people.
According to experts, factors such as lifestyle changes, unhealthy diets, and reduced physical activity are among the major contributors to the spread of this disease, and without timely intervention, the burden on global healthcare systems is expected to increase significantly.
