ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing in the case related to the Prosecutor Bill. An eight-member larger bench has been formed under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial. The hearing of the case will take place tomorrow.
According to Pak Alerts, the larger bench includes Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Mazahir Naqvi, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Shahid Waheed.
Two constitutional petitions were filed against the Practice and Procedure of Law and Prosecutor Act in the Supreme Court.
The petitions were filed by citizens Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain and Raja Aamir Khan, with the mediation of advocates Tariq Rahim and Azhar Siddique. A team consisting of the federation, the Ministry of Law, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, and the Principal Secretary to the President Arif Alvi has been formed.
The petitions state that the Prosecutor Bill is based on malice and fraud, and is not in line with the constitution. The court has been requested to declare the Bill null and void as it is illegal and unconstitutional.
The court has also been requested to suspend the Prosecutor Bill until a decision is made on the constitutional petition.
