United States: A recent survey has revealed that a significant number of Indian-origin individuals living in the United States are considering leaving the country, with nearly 40 percent admitting that they have thought about emigrating due to various reasons.
According to an Indian media report, out of 1,000 participants in the survey, 14 percent said they often think about leaving the US, while 26 percent stated that they consider it occasionally. The biggest reason identified was dissatisfaction with domestic politics, cited by 58 percent of respondents, followed by inflation at 54 percent and personal safety concerns at 41 percent.
The report further states that dissatisfaction with the current political environment and government policies has contributed to this growing trend, with 71 percent expressing disapproval of the government’s performance on issues related to the economy, immigration, and foreign relations.
At the social level, there has also been an increase in perceived discrimination and insecurity, with many respondents indicating that they have been compelled to alter their daily behavior for safety reasons.
Economic pressure has also emerged as a major concern, particularly in major cities where housing and living costs have risen significantly, with one-bedroom rents reaching between $3,000 and $5,000, while the cost of raising children has reportedly exceeded $300,000.
Additionally, complexities in the immigration system, visa delays, and uncertainty regarding permanent residency have become key factors, leading to growing anxiety among professionals.
The report also noted a shift in political affiliations among Indian-origin Americans, with more individuals now prioritizing practical concerns such as employment, safety, and long-term stability over ideological positions.
