Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that a peace agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran following extensive negotiations, with the official signing ceremony scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.
In a statement posted on social media, the prime minister described the agreement as a major step toward regional peace and stability.
He praised the roles of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, saying all parties had agreed to an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
According to Sharif, the agreement includes the cessation of military operations across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.
He thanked both the United States and Iran for choosing diplomacy as the path to resolving tensions.
The prime minister also acknowledged Qatar’s mediation efforts, saying the country played a key role in facilitating the agreement.
Trump Declares Deal Complete
US President Donald Trump announced on social media that the agreement between Washington and Tehran had been finalized.
He described it as a historic achievement for peace and stability in the Middle East and congratulated all parties involved.
Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened to international commercial shipping and that the US naval blockade against Iran would be lifted.
Iran’s Response
According to Iranian media reports, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Iran would begin implementing its commitments under the agreement from Friday.
He noted that discussions toward a final comprehensive agreement would continue over the next 60 days.
Gharibabadi added that future negotiations would focus on sanctions relief and the removal of economic restrictions.
