Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that lasting peace between Pakistan and India is not possible without the restoration of the Indus Waters Treaty.
Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, Bilawal said water is not merely a geographical issue but a matter of food security, the future and human survival.
He noted that concerns over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz had affected the global economy, highlighting the strategic importance of key waterways to international stability.
Bilawal stressed that the waters of the Indus River are vital to Pakistan’s survival and emphasized the need to protect critical water resources.
He further warned that using maritime routes or water resources as political or strategic weapons sets a dangerous precedent for regional stability, international law and global peace.
