Spain national football team defeated Austria national football team 3-0 in the Round of 32 to secure a place in the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match, played in Los Angeles, was largely controlled by Spain, who enjoyed 65% possession.
Spain opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Mikel Oyarzabal found the net to give his team a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Spanish side continued to pressure Austria after the break, with Pedro Porro scoring the second goal in the 66th minute.
Oyarzabal struck again one minute before the end of regulation time, scoring his second goal of the match and sealing a 3-0 victory for Spain.
The win secured Spain’s place in the Round of 16 and marked their first FIFA World Cup knockout-stage victory since the 2010 tournament.
