The bunkering facility for commercial vessels has officially been launched at Gwadar Port in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. In collaboration with the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and a private international company, marine fuel produced at a local refinery was successfully supplied to a commercial vessel.
Pakistan successfully completed its first-ever marine bunkering operation at Gwadar Port, enabling the country to provide marine fuel services from all three of its major commercial seaports.
During this historic operation, 2,500 metric tons of Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), produced in accordance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards, were supplied to the foreign LNG vessel LNG ENUGU.
The marine fuel was produced at the local refinery Cnergyico PK Limited, while the bunkering operation was carried out by global energy company Vitol through its bunkering barge Marine Ista in collaboration with the National Logistics Corporation (NLC).
With this development, Pakistan has officially established a complete international-standard marine bunkering system across all three of its commercial ports. This significant achievement enables the country to offer marine fuel supply services comparable to regional refueling hubs such as Fujairah and Singapore.
Under the Pakistan Single Window system, a standardized, integrated, and internationally certified marine fuel supply network has become operational at all three commercial ports in accordance with the Electronic Customs Marine Bunkering Rules.
Pakistan’s national marine bunkering system is operating under an integrated framework established through the collaboration of global energy company Vitol Bunkers, the National Logistics Corporation (NLC), and the local oil refinery Cnergyico PK Limited.
This successful operation is also significant because it marks the first time that a sea-going commercial vessel has received bunkering services at Gwadar Port. As a result, Pakistan’s marine fuel supply capability has expanded beyond Karachi and Port Qasim to include Gwadar, marking another important milestone for the country’s maritime and commercial sectors.
