Karachi: A brother and sister who were allegedly assaulted in Defence’s Khayaban-e-Bukhari are now reportedly facing threats, with their family allegedly being pressured to settle the matter.
The affected family has moved its belongings from the flat to another location amid the situation, while the DIG South has summoned both parties to his office today as part of the investigation.
Authorities have also decided to conduct a forensic examination of the video that surfaced following the incident. Police personnel seen in the footage have also been summoned for questioning.
CCTV footage of the incident showed a woman walking down the stairs carrying a dumbbell while accompanied by uniformed police officers.
The woman was then seen allegedly striking another woman standing outside the flat with the dumbbell.
When the victims attempted to resist, the police personnel present at the scene allegedly restrained those being assaulted instead of stopping the attacking woman.
The footage also showed a man in plain clothes taking an official firearm from a police officer and later damaging a CCTV camera.
The woman who was allegedly assaulted said she lives with her mother and brother.
She alleged that the influential woman not only assaulted her but also had both siblings arrested and a case registered against them.
The brother and sister subsequently secured bail within a few days.
The affected family now alleges that they are receiving threats and being pressured to reach a settlement in the case.
