Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, Senator Yusuf Raza Gillani, has stated that he does not consider the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) as a political party, but he still does not support restrictions on it.
During a media interaction in Multan, Yusuf Raza Gillani said, “On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, I send a message to the nation that this country was achieved through numerous sacrifices and prolonged struggles. Along with nuclear power, the country’s defense is in strong hands.”
He further stated, “Our armed forces and agencies, including the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence), have made great sacrifices against terrorism. There are reprehensible forces both within and outside the country.”
Regarding the events of May 9, the former Prime Minister had said that attacks on military installations, including General Headquarters (GHQ) and Corps Commander Houses, would be considered an attack on Pakistan.
Yusuf Raza Gillani said, “The aftermath of the action taken is now before the nation. Which country in the world allows interference in its defense matters? If such a thing happened anywhere, there would be a strong reaction, but our army has shown patience.”
Responding to a question about those separating from the Tehreek-e-Insaf, the PPP leader said, “They had no political ideologies. They are returning just as they came.”
