According to details, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is committed to providing relief in the upcoming budget and has granted approval to continue subsidies for the underprivileged.
Sources have revealed that a proposal has been made in the upcoming budget to provide subsidies exceeding PKR 1.3 trillion. It is under consideration to allocate PKR 975 billion for the energy sector and PKR 53.6 billion for the petroleum sector.
The document states that a proposal of PKR 30 billion has been put forward to provide RLNG (Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) to domestic consumers, and a subsidy of PKR 7.6 billion has been suggested for Attock Petroleum Limited.
The document further mentions that PKR 5 billion has been allocated for the Pakistan Arab Gas Pipeline project, PKR 11 billion for PSO (Pakistan State Oil) Price Differential Claim, PKR 500 million for Naya Pakistan Housing, and PKR 1 billion for subsidies in mortgage payments for Naya Pakistan Housing.
According to the document, discussions are underway regarding several subsidies. An allocation of PKR 2 billion has been proposed for the Islamabad Metro Bus Service, PKR 12.2 billion for the “Mera Ghar Mera Pakistan” initiative, PKR 5.7 billion for refinancing, and PKR 7 billion for debt relief for farmers affected by floods.
Furthermore, it has been proposed to allocate PKR 1.3 billion for providing agricultural land to flood-affected individuals, PKR 6.4 billion for risk coverage in the agricultural sector, PKR 55.5 billion for food security, and PKR 30 billion for providing subsidized items from utility stores.
For Gilgit-Baltistan, a proposal of PKR 10.5 billion has been made for wheat supply, PKR 5 billion for Ramadan relief in the budget, and PKR 10 billion in subsidies for wheat supply to Pasco.
