Sindh’s budget of Rs. 2,100 billion will be presented today, with a proposed allocation of Rs. 410 billion for developmental projects. In the upcoming budget, there is also a recommendation for an increase in the minimum wage for laborers.
According to sources, Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, will present the budget in the provincial assembly. The federal PSDP (Public Sector Development Program) has estimated more than Rs. 120 billion for the province. The proposed budget for projects funded by foreign sources exceeds Rs. 266 billion.
There is a recommendation to allocate more than Rs. 380 billion for new and ongoing development schemes, and it is proposed to allocate Rs. 88 billion for 7,193 new schemes in the upcoming fiscal year. For 3,311 ongoing schemes in Sindh, a proposed allocation of Rs. 291 billion has been suggested, and 1,772 schemes are expected to be completed in the current fiscal year.
The new budget for the province includes an increase in grants for local councils, and it is expected that there will be a 30% increase in salaries of government employees and a 17% increase in pensions. There is also a recommendation for an increase in the minimum wage for laborers in the upcoming fiscal year.
