Former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stated that after consultation with the senior leadership of the Muslim League, it has been decided that Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan in October and lead the election campaign for the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
On Friday, the Sharif family held a meeting in London for consultation, attended by party leaders present in London.
During the gathering, Shahbaz Sharif, alongside his elder brother Nawaz Sharif and other party leaders, spoke to the media representatives and conveyed that the decision has been reached through consultations that PML-N’s leader Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan in October. However, he did not provide a specific date for this return.
Shahbaz Sharif emphasized that Nawaz Sharif will come back to Pakistan to face the legal proceedings; he mentioned that transparent accountability is crucial for the progress of Pakistan and cannot be achieved without it.
Responding to a question about the elections, Shahbaz Sharif mentioned that they analyzed the assemblies in accordance with the constitution and the law, and now it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to hold elections on time.
Shahbaz Sharif said that despite Nawaz Sharif’s efforts, he was not allowed to talk to his sick wife. Nawaz Sharif was interrogated till night, Atta Bandyal did not remember.
In London, Shahbaz Sharif met with the leader of the opposition, Nawaz Sharif, and former Prime Minister, and then criticized Nawaz Sharif’s conviction in the Panama case during the media conversation.
He stated that Nawaz Sharif was implicated in the Panama case as part of a conspiracy. There were around 450 other names involved in Panama, but they were not questioned.
He mentioned that Nawaz Sharif’s name wasn’t there in Panama to begin with; a bench decided on the residence from Panama, false cases were created against Nawaz Sharif.
Referring to the past, Shahbaz Sharif further stated that Nawaz Sharif was in jail, and Kalsoom Nawaz was in a London hospital. Despite Nawaz Sharif’s efforts, he wasn’t allowed to speak to his ailing wife. “If only Chief Justice of Pakistan Omar Ata Bandial had questioned during Nawaz Sharif’s time.”
The former prime minister said that for one hundred days, Nawaz Sharif continued to appear in the accountability court with his daughter every day, Nawaz Sharif was questioned till night, Atta Bandyal did not remember.
