Islamabad: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s leader, Siraj ul Haq, has announced a nationwide protest against power outages and the escalating cost of living.
According to details, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s leader, Siraj ul Haq, has said that protests will be held outside all four Governor Houses across the country against injustice to the people. Protests are scheduled for September 8, 9, 10 in Rahim Yar Khan, Leh, Muzaffargarh.
Siraj ul Haq stated that on September 15th, protests will be organized in Faisalabad, on the 21st and 22nd in Rawalpindi and Multan, respectively.
He also mentioned that they will challenge the costly agreements with IPPs in the Supreme Court next week and release a white paper on the energy sector.
The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami further said that the government should reduce electricity prices to provide relief to the people; otherwise, the peaceful protest movement will continue within the framework of the constitution and the law.
He urged that instead of burdening the poor with expensive electricity, efforts should be made to end the theft of billions of rupees worth of electricity and line losses.
