Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared a day of mourning after Iranian media reported that president Ebrahim Raisi had died in a helicopter crash.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a statement on the social media website X and expressed his condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan over the death of Ebrahim Raisi.
Expressing condolences on behalf of the Pakistani government and people, he said that after the accident involving Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter, we were hopeful of receiving some good news. However, regrettably, that has not happened, and we are deeply saddened by the situation.
While praying, he said that may Allah grant the martyrs a high place in Jannat-tul-Firdous and grant patience to their families and the Iranian nation for this tragedy.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recalled late Ibrahim Raisi’s visit to Pakistan last month and described it as historic.
He says that Pakistan got a historic opportunity to host Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Houssein Amir Abdullahian about a month before their martyrdom.
He announced the observance of mourning day across the country and said that he was a very good friend of Pakistan. Expressing solidarity with our brotherly country Iran in this hour of sorrow, the day of mourning for the death of the Iranian President and Foreign Minister will be observed across the country and the flag will be kept at half-mast in honor of the martyrs.
