The Sindh government has announced that it will provide free tablets to students from grades 9 to 12.
According to the Chairman of the Sindh Textbook Board, Abdul Aleem Lashari, these tablets will be distributed to students to prevent any delays or shortages of textbooks, ensuring that their studies are not disrupted.
A ceremony was held at the Sindh Textbook Board’s warehouse in Karachi to discuss the distribution of textbooks. Chairman Abdul Aleem Lashari attended the event as a special guest.
While speaking to the media during the event, he mentioned that in the first phase, tablets will be given to students of higher grades, and in the second phase, other classes will also receive tablets. The Sindh Textbook Board aims to gradually transition to a paperless system to align with modern educational needs.
He further stated that the final decision will be made by the Chief Minister of Sindh, and upon approval, they will begin working on this initiative. The distribution process for free textbooks for the current academic year is nearing its completion.
The Chairman also mentioned that approximately 2.75 million textbooks are being distributed for free across 30 districts of Sindh. The first phase started on July 30, while the second phase will begin on August 15. Books have been provided to publishers, and any delays in distribution will result in action against those publishers.
Acknowledging the delays in textbook distribution, he explained that there were various reasons, including technical issues and legal proceedings. The distribution of books has been completed in 17 districts, and the process is now complete in Karachi as well.
