The head of the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas, Shaheed Yahya Sinwar, rejected the offer of Arab mediators to go to Egypt.
The Times of Israel, citing a report from The Wall Street Journal, stated that during the Gaza conflict, mediators offered Yahya Sinwar a chance to travel to Egypt for negotiations on behalf of Hamas and provided him an opportunity to leave the Gaza Strip.
According to the report, during the ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, Arab mediators offered Yahya Sinwar the opportunity to leave the Gaza conflict and travel to Egypt. However, Sinwar preferred to remain in his homeland instead of leaving the battlefield.
Yahya Sinwar acknowledged that there was a possibility of his martyrdom in Israeli attacks. He proposed that after his martyrdom, Hamas should elect a leadership council.
According to an American newspaper, Sinwar stated that if he became a martyr, Israel would make various offers, but Hamas should not concede defeat.
It is noteworthy that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was martyred on October 16 while fighting alongside Israeli forces in the Rafah area of Gaza.
He was appointed as the head of Hamas after the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran on July 31, 2024, and held this position until his martyrdom.
Before Yahya Sinwar’s martyrdom, Israel had been continuously propagating that he was hiding in the tunnels of Gaza and using Israeli hostages as shields. However, this claim proved false, as he was martyred bravely fighting against the Israeli army on the battlefield.
