Canada’s newly elected Prime Minister, Mark Carney, has announced early elections.
According to a foreign news agency, on Sunday, Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, announced that early elections will be held on April 28 to secure a stronger mandate for his government.
Prime Minister Mark Carney stated, “I have requested the Governor General to dissolve Parliament and announce elections on April 28.”
In the Canadian elections, a fierce contest is expected between the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party for 343 seats.
The Canadian Prime Minister proposed tax cuts for the middle class and stated, “U.S. President Trump wants to break us so he can rule over us. We are facing a crisis due to Trump’s unfair tariffs and trade actions.”
It is noteworthy that on March 14, Mark Carney, leader of Canada’s ruling Liberal Party, took the oath as the country’s 24th Prime Minister, marking the end of Justin Trudeau’s nearly 10-year tenure.
Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as Prime Minister in January under pressure due to inflation and threats of a trade war with the United States.
