On Tuesday morning, earthquake tremors were felt in various cities of Punjab, including the provincial capital Lahore, as well as Kasur, Okara, Nankana, Sheikhupura, Muridke, and Kamoke, causing panic among the residents.
The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 4.4, with a depth of 14 kilometers, and the epicenter was located southwest of Lahore. The tremors began at 11:39 AM, prompting people to rush out of their homes, offices, and shops while reciting the Kalima Tayyiba.
According to Dawn News, tremors were felt not only in various areas of Lahore but also across other districts of the province, leaving the public in a state of deep concern.
The Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that district administrations across Punjab have been placed on emergency alert. Immediate inspection of buildings has begun, and machinery and staff are fully prepared to deal with any aftershocks.
It is also worth mentioning that in recent weeks, tremors have been continuously felt in Karachi, while incidents of seismic activity have also occurred intermittently in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Although earthquake tremors are rarely experienced in Punjab, the recent wave has affected several cities of the province, triggering a wave of anxiety among the population.
