Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi formally inaugurated the country’s first online women police station and its associated mobile application at Islamabad’s Safe City Headquarters. This initiative is being hailed as a revolutionary step towards providing women in Pakistan with immediate and secure legal access.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Interior Minister stated that these modern facilities reflect a commitment to the effective use of technology. He instructed that the staff working under the Safe City project must prioritize public service, and the existing surveillance system should be enhanced by integrating it with artificial intelligence (AI).
A dedicated helpline, 1815, has been allocated for the new online women’s police station, which is staffed entirely by women. This includes call attendants, rapid response teams, and investigation officers, all prepared to efficiently address women’s complaints.
The station also offers video calling and online chat services, eliminating the need for women to visit police stations in person to register FIRs. Copies of FIRs will be delivered directly to their homes, making the system more secure and convenient.
