Pakistan’s internationally acclaimed Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem will not participate in the upcoming Diamond League 2025, as doctors have advised him to focus on complete recovery before returning to international competition.
Arshad is currently undergoing rehabilitation in England, where he has started placing weight on his leg—a positive indicator on the road to recovery. According to his physician, Dr. Ali Sher Bajwa, the injury is both recent and severe, requiring extreme caution. Arshad previously underwent surgery in Cambridge to address the issue.
His participation in future events, including the World Championship, will depend entirely on his full recovery. A final decision will only be made once the rehabilitation process is complete.
Fans had been eagerly awaiting a potential showdown between Arshad Nadeem and India’s Neeraj Chopra at the Silesia Diamond League 2025. However, following Arshad’s surgery, this highly anticipated encounter is now uncertain.
Arshad Nadeem made history in August 2024 by winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics with a record-breaking 92.97-meter throw. His achievement marked Pakistan’s first Olympic medal in 32 years and earned him the distinction of being the country’s first individual Olympic gold medalist.
His victory was even more significant considering that six out of seven Pakistani athletes had already been eliminated from their respective events. Arshad remained the nation’s only hope—and he delivered, making the entire country proud.
