Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja has said that he will discuss the low public participation in yesterday’s protest with the party leadership and Chairman Imran Khan.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Raja stated that the Toshakhana-II trial is completely unconstitutional and illegal. He further mentioned that during the cipher case hearings, family members, lawyers, and media personnel were barred from entering the court, which, according to High Court directives, invalidates the proceedings as an open trial.
Raja said that while yesterday’s protest was successful to some extent, it could have been more impactful. He emphasized that discussions would be held within the party to understand why people did not turn out in large numbers.
He added that he and Mehmood Achakzai stayed with Imran Khan’s sisters at Chakri Interchange until 11 PM. According to Raja, if a Member of the National Assembly fails to attend the protest without a valid reason after Imran Khan’s call, they will have to explain.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and KP Information Adviser Barrister Saif declared the protest a success. Barrister Gohar stated that strong demonstrations were held in 170 districts across the country, including all tehsils and union councils, proving that the public stands firmly with the PTI founder.
