On the occasion of National Minorities Day, President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in their separate messages, emphasized that fostering brotherhood, harmony, and unity is the key to building a prosperous and strong Pakistan.
President Zardari said that this day is a reaffirmation of the commitment to protect the rights of minorities and promote national harmony. He stated that today serves as a reminder of the vision of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in which every citizen is entitled to equality and mutual respect.
He added that minorities have rendered outstanding services in Pakistan’s armed forces, judiciary, civil services, education, and healthcare sectors. The government will continue to work for their empowerment, development, and welfare.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan has always stood with the international community in safeguarding the rights of minorities and will remain committed to ensuring their religious freedom.
He noted that Quaid-e-Azam’s historic speech of August 11, 1947, stands as a conceptual guarantee for a secure future for minorities. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to provide equal opportunities to minorities so they can play a more effective role in national development.
