Islamabad hosted the Pakistan-US Counter-Terrorism Dialogue, where both nations reaffirmed their determination to eliminate all forms of terrorism. The session was co-chaired by senior Pakistani Foreign Ministry official Nabeel Munir and US Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory D. LoGerfo.
According to a statement issued by the US Embassy, the dialogue emphasized the need to address threats posed by groups such as the BLA, ISIS-K, and TTP. The US appreciated Pakistan’s successful efforts in combating terrorists and expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the Jaffer Express and Khuzdar school bus attacks.
The statement further noted that both sides agreed to work together to address security challenges and counter the use of emerging technologies in terrorism. Discussions also focused on strengthening institutional frameworks, enhancing capabilities, and improving coordination mechanisms to counter terrorist threats more effectively.
Both countries reaffirmed their resolve to maintain close cooperation in multilateral forums, including the United Nations, and stressed the importance of continuous, coordinated, and effective engagement to ensure peace and stability in the region.
