Islamabad: The water flow at Panjnad headworks on the River Chenab has surged significantly, leading to a rise in water levels across Sindh’s major barrages.
According to the latest figures released by the Sindh Information Department, Panjnad is recording an inflow and outflow of 668,195 cusecs, while at Trimmu the inflow and outflow stand at 178,932 cusecs.
The Ministry of Water Resources reported that Guddu Barrage currently has an inflow of 502,861 cusecs and an outflow of 475,970 cusecs. At Sukkur Barrage, inflow is 440,985 cusecs with an outflow of 412,735 cusecs, while Kotri Barrage is receiving 257,754 cusecs and releasing 254,354 cusecs.
Meanwhile, Tarbela Dam has been at full capacity since August 27, with its current level at 1,550 feet. Mangla Dam is more than 92% full, standing at 1,234.60 feet.
The Federal Flood Commission has forecast a high flood at Guddu Barrage within the next 12 hours, a medium flood at Sukkur Barrage, and a low-level flood at Kotri Barrage.
Currently, the Ravi River at Sadhnai is experiencing high flood conditions, while the Panjnad headworks on the Chenab are witnessing exceptionally high flood levels. The Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala is also facing very high flood levels, with Sulemanki and Islam headworks under high flood threat.
