Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has requested the PPP’s support for the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
In a statement shared on social media, Bilawal said that a delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, met with President Asif Ali Zardari and him to discuss the proposed amendment.
According to Bilawal, the 27th Amendment includes provisions for the establishment of a Constitutional Court, the appointment of executive magistrates, and the transfer of judges.
He added that the amendment also proposes to end the constitutional protection of provincial shares under the NFC Award, amend Article 243, and return education and population planning to the federal domain.
The PPP chairman further said that the amendment also aims to resolve deadlocks in the appointment process of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Bilawal stated that following President Asif Ali Zardari’s return from Qatar, the PPP Central Executive Committee will meet on November 6 to finalize the party’s stance on the issue.
