The number of dengue fever cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to rise, as 45 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of affected individuals to 4,836.
According to the provincial health department, 40 patients are currently admitted to different hospitals across the province, while a total of 1,795 people have been hospitalized so far during this season.
Data shows that Charsadda remains the most affected district, with 1,079 cases. Kohat has recorded 563 cases, Peshawar 516, and Mardan 429, indicating widespread transmission across multiple regions.
Experts say the temperature in Peshawar and surrounding districts, which remains around 22°C, is ideal for mosquito breeding, increasing the risk of dengue spread. They added that a drop in temperature below 15°C or significant rainfall is necessary to curb mosquito growth effectively.
The health department has advised the public to take preventive measures, including eliminating stagnant water in and around homes, using mosquito nets, and ensuring regular fumigation or mosquito repellents to reduce the threat of infection.
