The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has issued a sixth round of arrest warrants for Alima Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, in connection with the November 26, 2024, protest case. Following the court’s orders, police have formed a special team to execute the warrants and effect the arrest.
Officials said the team will be led by SDPO City Azhar Shah and is scheduled to proceed to Adiala Jail shortly to carry out the required legal procedures. During the previous hearing on October 30, the ATC was presented with reports showing that Alima Khan’s identity documents and passport had been digitally blocked.
Speaking to reporters outside the Islamabad High Court, Alima Khan reaffirmed her political stance and vowed to continue the struggle on behalf of her brother. She said she and her family would not be intimidated by arrests, declaring they were willing to face imprisonment while standing by Imran Khan. She also criticized the authorities, warning that such actions were damaging the country’s image at home and abroad.
Police sources said the specially constituted unit will carry out legal formalities to implement the warrants, while authorities maintain that those who violate the law will face timely legal action. Security arrangements are likely to be tightened in anticipation of any possible public reaction or escalation related to the operation.
